About My Fitness Journey

Update: I’m re-starting this journey as of August, 2015. This time, I’m not looking to exercise for 100 days straight. Rather, my new goal is to work out 100 days out of the next 175 days, or 4 days per week for the next 25 weeks.

This blog tracks my personal journey to live an active lifestyle. I am 23 years old, I live in Chicago, and I started a full-time job in January. I am attempting to work out or get some sort of physical activity in 4 days per week (or 100 days total) for the next 175 days. I know that I will have some off days, miss some days, or totally binge on candy some days. Sometimes lapses are inevitable – they’re part of life. But ideally, I’ll be able to look back after 25 days and see that I worked out at least 3 times per week; after 50 days I’ll realize that my body is changing in a positive way; after 100 days maybe exercise will be a second-nature, subconscious activity; and after 175 days, I hope to be so ingrained in the habit of exercising daily (or almost daily) that it’s more difficult to go without it than to just go to the gym for 30 minutes.

Regardless of the specific results, if I can manage to stick to my goal of working out more than half of the days in each week, I will have achieved something that I know I’ll be proud of, and I will be helping my future self to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.

And maybe after making the next 175 days healthier and more active, I’ll be ready to tackle the 100-day challenge I originally posed to myself.
